Universal promotes Kirschenbaum

Named executive vp production at the studio

Jeffrey Kirschenbaum has been promoted to executive vp production at Universal Pictures.

He'll report to recently named president of production Debbie Liebling. Universal Pictures co-chairman made the announcement.

Kirschenbaum held the title of production executive and oversaw Universal's highest-grossing film of 2009, "Fast & Furious." He also helped shepherd Universal tentpoles "Wanted," "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," and "The Bourne Ultimatum."

Kirschenbaum's current projects include "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and is developing "Wanted 2," "Battleship," "47 Ronin" and the fifth installment in the "Fast and Furious" series.

Kirschenbaum joined Universal in 2001 as director of development. He was promoted to vp production in 2004, then senior vp production in 2007. Before coming to Universal, he spent three years as an executive at Mace Neufeld Prods.
