Universal Releases First Footage From Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's 'Sisters'

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in 'Sisters'

Next Christmas the comedy duo are set to co-star as sisters alongside other SNL alums

Universal Pictures has just released the first footage from its upcoming Tina Fey- and Amy Poehler-starring comedy Sisters, previously called The Nest. The movie will reteam the comedy duo whose last big-screen collaboration was the 2008 movie Baby Mama.

The footage first debuted online and aired last night before the Golden Globes, which Fey and Poehler hosted for the third and (probably final) time, but the pair showed a little more restraint in advertising their upcoming movie onstage than Kevin Hart did with his forthcoming film The Wedding Ringer.

Sisters tells the story of two disconnected siblings summoned home to clean out their bedroom before their parents sell the family house. They decide to throw one final rager in their childhood home, which turns into a much-needed cathartic experience.

Fey and Poehler are also producing the film along with Jay Roach and his Everyman Pictures. Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore helmed the project based on the original screenplay by Paula Pell, and several other SNL players are making appearances including Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon. Mindy Project star Ike Barinholtz will play Poehler’s love interest.

It may have been sad to say goodbye to Fey and Poehler's reign as Golden Globe hosts, but at least they left fans with an early Christmas present.

Sisters hits theaters Dec. 18.
