The Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson sequel will hit the large format exhibitor's screens internationally on May 22.

TORONTO - Universal’s Fast & Furious 6 is to speed onto Imax’s international screens on May 22 after being digitally blown up for its giant screen format.

The summer run on Imax screens comes ahead of Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s sequel hitting theaters on May 24.

Imax previously screened Fast Five, an earlier installment of the high octane franchise, in 2011.

The sequel from Universal finds Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Paul Walker) crew retired after earning a $100 million haul during the series' previous installment.

But, unfortunately, they are unable to return home because of charges hanging over their heads.

Hobbs (Johnson) gives the team a chance at redemption when he offers them a job stopping a group of mercenary drivers.

The team says they’ll only accept if the payment is a full pardon.

"Director Justin Lin and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson have already proven to be a turbo-charged combination for Imax," said Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Entertainment, in a statement Wednesday ahead of the upcoming summer run overseas.
