Unvaccinated High School Students Ordered to Stay Home Over Measles Scare

The students will be out of school until Feb. 9.

Dozens of Palm Desert High School students are being told to stay home following a case of suspected measles at the school.

The 66 students do not have a record of being vaccinated against the disease, and the students will not be allowed to return until Feb. 9, after the Public Health Department clears.

"Desert Sands Unified School District and Riverside County Public Health Department are working hand-in-hand to take every precaution to ensure student and staff safety," the school district said in as statement.

The school is located in Palm Desert, Calif. which is approximately 122 miles east of Los Angeles. A recent outbreak has been traced back to Disneyland.
