The reality executive will start immediately at Syfy and exit her current position at the fellow NBCUniversal-owned cable network early next year.

Syfy has found its replacement for reality chief Tim Krubsack: USA Network's Heather Olander.

Six months after Krubsack exited the network, Syfy has tapped USA senior vp alternative development and production Olander to serve in the same role for the fellow NBCUniversal-owned cable network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Olander, who currently oversees USA's buzzy breakout reality docuseries Chrisley Knows Best, will start immediately at Syfy and remain on board at USA until early next year. USA exec vp programming and development Jackie De Crinis will continue to oversee both scripted and unscripted programming at USA and will fill Olander's role after the latter segues to Syfy full time. De Crinis was tapped to replace Bill McGoldrick after the latter transitioned from USA to Syfy in November.

"Heather’s impressive pedigree and track record makes her the perfect choice to take over the reins of Syfy’s growing slate of high-quality unscripted programming," Syfy president Dave Howe said. "Syfy is committed to developing innovative, ambitious and ground-breaking unscripted series that fulfill Syfy’s strategic goal to 'imagine greater' across all of our content and I’m confident Heather’s creative leadership will help raise the bar even higher."

Added Syfy original content exec vp McGoldrick, to whom Olander will report: "Heather did a great job launching USA Network into the reality space. We are very excited to bring an executive with her energy, taste and tenacity to Syfy where she will have a large canvas and many hours of alternative programming to oversee."

Olander was tapped senior vp alternative programming in 2011, where she helped USA enter the reality space with The Moment and Summer Camp. Before joining USA, she was senior vp programming and development at CBS Television Distribution, where she was charged with developing new syndicated shows and oversaw first-run strips. Before that, she was at MTV as vp original series development and current programming.

Olander rejoins McGoldrick at Syfy after the former USA executive was tapped to run programming in November after original programming president and Universal Cable Productions co-head of original content Mark Stern's departure.
