UTA Signs CMA Awards Executive Producer Robert Deaton

Longtime CMA Awards executive producer Robert Deaton has signed with UTA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. He also recently executive produced the Nashville portion of the Hand in Hand hurricane-relief telethon on Sept. 12.
Deaton was responsible for bringing the CMA Music Festival to the small screen, successfully pitching the annual special to ABC 14 years ago. He has executive produced 11 CMA Awards for the network, and his credits also include the Billboard Music Awards and CMA Country Christmas.
Deaton also co-produced the album Michael W. Smith & Friends: The Spirit of Christmas, featuring an all-star ensemble of country and Christian artists including Vince Gill, Little Big Town, Amy Grant, Carrie Underwood, Bono and Michael McDonald. Last year, he made his directorial debut with the indie baseball drama Rounding Third, starring Scrubs’ John C. McGinley and Garret Dillahunt.
