Vagrant acquires Can rights to Indian drama

Laxmikant Shetgaonkar's 'The Man Beyond the Bridge'

TORONTO -- Indie distributor Vagrant Films Releasing has picked up the Canadian rights to Indian director Laxmikant Shetgaonkar's "The Man Beyond the Bridge" ahead of a Berlin screening.

The Konkani-language drama about a forest ranger who befriends a mentally-ill woman in rural India earned the FIPRESCI prize when it bowed at the recent Toronto International Film Festival.

Vagrant Films' Ryan Bruce Levey inked a Canadian distribution deal with Raja Chhinal of NFDC India at Rotterdam.
