Vagrant Grabs Canadian Rights To Swedish Film 'Sebbe'

Vagrant Films Releasing picks up rights to award-winning Swedish debut feature.

OTTAWA -- Canadian movie distributor Vagrant Films Releasing has acquired the domestic rights to Babak Najafi’s Berlin award-winner Sebbe from Swedish sales company The Yellow Affair.

The Swedish director's drama about youth bullying was judged the best debut film at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival, where it ran in the festival’s Generation sidebar, and earlier earned the best picture prize at the Swedish film awards.

The Canadian acquisition was negotiated  at the 2011 European Film Market in Berlin by Ryan Bruce Levey for Vagrant Films Releasing and Miira Paasilinna and Grace Maharaj for The Yellow Affair.

Vagrant plans a November theatrical release for Sebbe.
