"Thank you for showing me what real love is," she wrote on Instagram Sunday, also thanking her late husband for loving her "enough to last several lifetimes."

Vanessa Bryant is remembering her late husband Kobe Bryant on his 42nd birthday.

The wife of the late Basketball legend took to Instagram Sunday to express how much she loves and misses Bryant, who passed away in a Jan. 26 helicopter crash along with their late daughter Gianna.

"To my baby~ Happy birthday. I love you and miss you more than I can ever explain. I wish you and Gigi were here to celebrate YOU," Vanessa wrote alongside a photo of her and Bryant. "I wish I could make you your fav food or a birthday cake with my Gigi."

She went on to say that the misses Bryant's "big hugs," "kisses," "smile" and "your loud ass deep laugh." "I think about your tenderness and patience all the time. I think about everything you would do in situations to help me deal with everything thrown my way," she wrote.

"Thank you for growing up with me and teaching me how to be strong. How to try to see the best in people but cutout the bs. Your thoughtful gestures and the amazing way you made us all feel is extremely missed," she continued. "I picture your smile and wide big welcoming hugs daily."

Vanessa also described the grief and "horrible nightmare" she and her daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and 14-month-old Capri have endured after losing both Bryant and Gianna. "Our lives feel so empty without you and Gigi. I’ve been completely broken inside. As much as I want to cry, I put a smile on my face to make our daughters days shine a little brighter. I’m not the strong one, they are. They’re strong and resilient. I’m sure you’re proud of them. They put a smile on my face everyday."

Though staying strong, Vanessa admitted she is "mad" she "didn't go first" to spare her from the "heartache" that would follow their passing. "It should've been me," she wrote. "Gigi was supposed to be here with her sisters."

Vanessa ended her tribute by thanking her late husband for loving her "enough to last several lifetimes." "Thank you for showing me what real love is... I  know my Gigi is celebrating you like she always has on our special days... I love you for now, forever and for always."

To help commemorate the late basketball legend's 42nd birthday on Sunday, Nike teamed up with Kendrick Lamar for a 90-second video highlighting Bryant's Mamba Mentality of always striving to be better.
