'Velvet Buzzsaw' Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal, Toni Collette and John Malkovich Haunted by Demonic Art
Netflix released the first trailer for its original horror film on Thursday.
In the trailer for Netflix's Velvet Buzzsaw, art to die for takes on a new meaning.
The art-centered horror movie comes from writer and director Dan Gilroy, who also wrote and directed the 2014 crime thriller Nightcrawler.
Velvet Buzzsaw revolves around the supernatural powers that plague a group of art critics, curators and enthusiasts, played by the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal and Toni Collette, who must uncover the dark history of the mysterious paintings before they come face to face with death.
The trailer for the official Sundance 2019 selection shows works of art exacting their revenge on greedy victims by grabbing them and severing their limbs.
In the teaser, Gyllenhaal's sharply dressed Morf Vandewalt goes from a confident art savant to a crazed victim determined to uncover the truth behind the terrifying events.
"There's some sort of power, some spirit (that's) connected to his art. Something truly goddamn strange is going on," he warns.
Also starring Rene Russo, Daveed Diggs and Stranger Things alumna Natalia Dyer, Velvet Buzzsaw will be available to stream on Netflix on Feb. 1.
