Veoh channels Us Weekly


Us Weekly magazine has partnered with Veoh Networks on a new branded entertainment channel covering all things celebrity.

The channel will launch next month on online video hub Veoh, which counts former Walt Disney Co. CEO Michael Eisner as a board member. Eisner brokered the deal with Us Weekly parent company Wenner Media.

The channel will feature short- and longform video content and will include footage from the red carpet and celebrity parties, Us Weekly events and news and feature stories by the magazine's writers.

Accessible through and at, visitors to the site will have the ability to upload their own celebrity-featured video footage through Veoh's peer-to-peer network. User-submitted video will be used on the channel at the discretion of Us Weekly editors.

"Video is playing an incredibly important role on the Web, and when you look at a magazine like Us that is so picture-driven, this just completes the circle of coverage," said Janice Min, Us Weekly's editor in chief.

Veoh's partnership with the news outlet comes on the heels of last week's announcement that it is collaborating with UTA on an online channel devoted to identifying new talent and featuring talent-created content (HR 1/18). Eisner also brokered that deal.

"This partnership will allow Us Weekly to create a true channel distribution -- not just video 'snacks' -- but because of our technical capabilities, high-resolution, television-grade programming," Veoh Networks Inc. CEO Dmitry Shapiro said.
