Veritas has a helmer for 'Fred'

Steve Skrovan to direct the studio's first feature

Veritas Studios has set Steve Skrovan to direct its first feature film, "Fred & Vinnie," written by and starring comic actor Fred Stoller. Skrovan, who will make his narrative feature directorial debut, also will exec produce.

The comedy about two mismatched guys forced to live together is scheduled to begin shooting in March.

"Fred and I have wanted to do a project together since our early stand-up days in New York City," Skrovan said. "This script captures the Fred I have known for so long: quirky, authentic, poignant and absolutely hysterical."

Stoller, repped by Amsel, Eisenstadt & Frazier Talent Agency, has appeared on "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Seinfeld" and "Friends" and in such features as "Dumb & Dumber," "Joe Dirt" and "Little Man." He also was a staff writer on "Seinfeld."

Skrovan, repped by WMA, is an Emmy winner who also wrote for "Seinfeld" and served as exec producer of "Raymond" and " 'Til Death." He also directed and produced the 2006 Ralph Nader doc "An Unreasonable Man."
