'Veronica Mars' Movie: Inside the First Day of Filming (Exclusive Video)

The DVD/Blu-ray for the Kickstarter-funded film starring Kristen Bell is available May 6.

Ready to relive the first day of production on the Veronica Mars movie, marshmallows?

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts an excerpt on the Los Angeles set at the start of filming last June from a behind-the-scenes extra that will be on the Veronica Mars DVD/Blu-ray, available May 6. The Kickstarter-funded project brought 91,585 contributors together to bring the cult series to the big screen.

"It feels far more important because fans invested in us," Kristen Bell said.

"When you get a response like 90,000 people chipping in for something, you just can't really believe that. I've never really been a part of something that's been viral like that," Jason Dohring said.

Added Bell: "It feels really important to get it right."

The film received a limited release on March 14 and made about $3.3 million at the U.S. box office, according to Box Office Mojo.

Veronica Mars, which takes place at the 10-year high school reunion, also brought back Krysten Ritter, Ryan Hansen, Francis Capra, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Tina Majorino and Enrico Colantino.
