Viacom to Air EMAs on MTV and Channel 5 in U.K.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to give access to the MTV EMAs to the widest possible U.K. audience"
Viacom will air the MTV EMAs next month simultaneously on MTV U.K. and British broadcaster Channel 5, which it recently acquired.
The company, led by CEO Philippe Dauman, made the announcement about MTV’s biggest international music awards show on Wednesday. It said the show would air in the U.K. in more than 25 million TV households with a one-hour time delay at 9 p.m. local time.
Said David Lynn, president of Viacom International Media Networks U.K.: "This is a fantastic opportunity to give access to the MTV EMA[s] to the widest possible U.K. audience and let everyone share in the excitement of one of the hottest nights in music. It’s another example of how our high-quality content can be shared and promoted between our channels to the benefit of all."
Nicki Minaj will host the MTV EMAs at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Nov. 9.
Katy Perry leads the nominations with seven, followed by Grande, Pharrell Williams and Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer. Voting is open in all categories at mtvema.com.
Like last year, MTV will air a pre-show telecast in the U.S., this time from Miami.
