Victoria's Secret Angel Lindsay Ellingson Launches Full Makeup Collection
The model dishes about her travel-inspired, multitasking Wander Beauty brand.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Lindsay Ellingson is proving makeup artists and luxury labels aren’t the only ones who can create a beauty line. Models, after all, are in the unique position of wearing probably the most makeup of anyone. With all that behind-the-scenes training, Ellingson was in the perfect position to launch Wander Beauty this year, first with the two-in-one hero product On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator on QVC and now with a capsule collection of Paris-inspired cosmetics.
Between walking shows for designers like Chanel and Marc Jacobs and posing for Moschino campaigns and Vogue covers, Ellingson probably has had her face made up thousands of times. But even before she was pounding catwalks, the model was becoming a makeup expert. “I was a dancer growing up. I started at 4 years old and remember my mom putting a little blush on my cheeks before going onstage,” Ellingson tells Pret-a-Reporter. “In high school, it evolved to national competitions — applying fake eyelashes, face jewels, red lipstick and even more blush.”
Her career now means that she's "constantly reading beauty blogs and keeping an eye on runways all over the world to stay up to date on the latest beauty trends and industry innovations," says the model, who will try or test "anything that catches my eye." She’s the perfect person to vet products and formulas.
Along with co-founder Divya Gugnani, the two “realized there was something missing in the beauty world. As busy women who are constantly on the go, we were craving multitasking, luxurious makeup essentials that would simplify our beauty routines and save us time.” Additionally, the brand's site makes it easy for women of all skin tones and ethnicities to shop the shades, since it shows every product on six different models.
When it came to creating a fuller range for September, Wander's co-founder and creative director looked to Paris: “One of my favorite cities and where I started my career 10 years ago.” The capsule includes a highlighter, dove gray liquid shadow, cheek tint and innovative red lip gel infused with prickly-pear extract to hydrate. Also new: the perfect brow pencils. “Brows are the most important feature on your face, so I made sure to get this right,” says Ellingson.

It’s one of the tips she’s picked up along the way, working with all the makeup-artist greats — along with using coconut oil to wash her face. “Each makeup artist I’ve worked with has a distinct style. Over the years, I’ve absorbed so much information, it’s been like beauty school for me!” With Fashion Week right around the corner, it looks like school’s back in session.
