Watch Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston in BBC Fall-Season Teaser

Sherlock Christmas Special - H 2015

Clips from 'Sherlock,' 'The Night Manager,' 'War and Peace,' 'Luther' and more feature in the fall/winter season preview.

Having unveiled its latest slate of drama commissions earlier in the week, the BBC is now showing off its upcoming fall/winter season programming with a star-studded show reel.

"From the beginning then," offers a pipe-smoking Benedict Cumberbatch in the first teaser from the upcoming Victorian-themed Sherlock Christmas special, while Martin Freeman's Dr. Watson is spotted later on still sporting his luxuriant 19th century mustache

Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are given considerable airtime in clips for The Night Manager, the adaptation of John le Carre's spy thriller picked up by ABC for the U.S. Hiddleston plays an ex-soldier recruited by an intelligence officer (Broadchurch's Olivia Colman) to befriend Laurie's arms dealer.

A few seconds from the lavish six-part epic retelling of War and Peace shows saber-drawn cavalry charges on a snowy Russia battlefield, although its star, Downton Abbey's Lily James, doesn't make much of an appearance beyond a suggestive silhouette.

"There are some things that you might have heard about me that quite possibly could be true,” says Idris Elba in a clip from the fourth and potentially final season of Luther, while a miserable looking Stellan Skarsgard pops up in a clip from River, a new six-part crime series from Abi Morgan, who wrote BFI London Film Festival opener Suffragette.
