Derek Jeter Farewell Ad Hits It Out of the Park — With Help From Frank Sinatra

Mr. November is going out his way in the Gatorade ad that has received nearly 2 million YouTube views in 24 hours

Derek Jeter is getting plenty of tributes in the final weeks of his career, but Gatorade's may top them all.

A 90-second ad follows Mr. November as he chats with real (and very surprised) fans as he walks a few blocks toward Yankee Stadium. Emotions (and even a little beer) flow as Frank Sinatra's "My Way" plays in the background

Gatorade first approached Jeter, 40, about doing an ad back in March, when he announced he would be retiring. And the surprise in fans' faces was real, Molly Carter, Gatorade's senior director of consumer engagement, told Adweek.

The video has received more than 1.9 million views since hitting YouTube Thursday. It will start airing on TV Saturday on YES Network and Fox. Print ads will follow in The New York Daily News and Sports Illustrated, with Jeter writing a letter addressed to New York as part of the campaign.

"From my first at bat until my final out, you helped make me who I am," he writes.
