Michael Sam has made history by being the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team.

The St. Louis Rams drafted the former Missouri defensive end with the 249th overall pick Saturday, and ESPN broadcast him receiving the phone call from Rams head coach Jeff Fisher. The sports network showed an emotional Sam kissing his boyfriend after receiving the news. (See the video below.)
