The commercial is the first video about Apple products developed in Russia for the local market, the company behind it says.

The first ever local commercial for Apple products has been released in Russia. The video advertising the iPad and iPhone was produced by the mobile phone retailer Svyaznoy and Metrafilm, the production company behind the Berlin-winning movie Under Electric Clouds.

"This is the first ever video about Apple products developed from scratch in Russia for the local market," Svyaznoy said on its YouTube profile.

The video advertises iPhone and iPad and an installment payment plan for those products offered by the retailer.

The ad was developed by Svyaznoy in collaboration with Metrafilm, a production company headed by producer Artem Vasiliev and known mostly for its art-house features.

The most recent Metrafilm production, Under Electric Clouds, directed by Alexei German Jr., was part of the official selection at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this month, where it won an award for best camera work.

Until late 2014, Apple didn't run any TV commercials in Russia. The company's first ever Russian TV ad campaign was launched last November and featured a localized version of its international commercial, voiced by popular local TV personalities.

In late 2014, Apple halted online sales of its products in Russia twice, responding to sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate of the ruble.
