Watch the New 'Straight Outta Compton' Trailer (Video)

"Our art is a reflection of our reality."

The new trailer is out for Universal's hotly anticipated NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, and in it we see the poverty, violence and police brutality that marks the lives of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E as they grow up in South Central Los Angeles.

Finding each other and finding their voice through rap music, we see more of their rise and rise up the charts and how they became the "world's most dangerous group."

Paul Giamatti, as businessman Jerry Heller, also features heavily in the trailer, befitting the latter's pivotal role in managing the group through the early years. There's also a blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Suge Knight

The film, from director F. Gary Gray, stars Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and O'Shea Jackson Jr. and is slated for an Aug. 14 release.
