Viewers get second chance at M6 shows

PARIS -- French TV viewers can now access programs from private network M6 for free on the Web thanks to its new M6 Replay service set to launch next week, M6 said Thursday.

M6 Replay will allow viewers to watch 95% of programs airing on the network from 6 p.m. to midnight as soon as one hour after their broadcast and for up to seven days.

The service, which will go live Wednesday, is free, available to non-subscribers and classified in four different categories: U.S. and French fictional series, informational shows, news briefs and entertainment programs. It will initially be available via the group's Web site,, and M6 plans to extend the service to ADSL TV and mobile technology in the coming months.

"The launch of this new service, totally unprecedented for a major French network, is an important moment. It shows the will of the group to follow and to respond to new ways of watching TV and constitutes the natural evolution of our channels," M6 Group president Nicolas de Tavernost said in a statement.
