Vince Vaughn Headlines Forum With Audience Network Exec Chris Long

Will Vince Vaughn ever host his own talk show?

That was among the questions asked of him as he spoke alongside AT&T's Audience Network chief Chris Long recently for the Hollywood Radio and Television Society's Spotlight Breakfast Series.

As for whether or not fans will actually see a Vaughn talk show on the emerging network, Long joked, "I can't afford him."

While he may not be getting into the hosting chair anytime soon, Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show Productions is currently producing two talk shows for the network including the Fear(less) with Tim Ferriss and Undeniable With Joe Buck.

The actor credited his fascination with podcasts and long-form interviews as to why he got involved with the two shows and has hopes to bring the format to the network.

Citing that the audience size for this interview format is at a high, "The viewership of these podcasts is larger than these late night talk shows."   

While he may not be getting a hosting gig, Vaughn does have other plans to continue working with the network. Long revealed that he and Vaughn have been working on an untitled documentary for more than a year now that will be hitting the small screen in 2018.

Said Long of the documentary, "It's [about] the relationship between the African-American community and the police. I want to tell [the story] of a year in the life of a kid who has to live within this environment and has no opportunity." 

Other original programming for the network includes the recently announced comedy Hit the Road from Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander (which Long pegs as The Partridge Family meets Shameless), Kingdom, Mr. Mercedes, Condor, Ice and Loudermilk.

And don't expect to see a procedural courtroom drama coming to the network anytime soon. Said Long, "I don't need another police procedural. I don't need another courtroom procedural."

One thing he does want though is to attract the millennial audience to the network. To close out the conversation, Long joked, "What resonates with them — being lit at Coachella?"
