VMAs Fashion: It's a Jungle Out There

From Charli XCX to Michelle Williams, VMA-goers embraced their inner beast on Sunday's red carpet

It seems only right that Nicki Minaj would show up to the VMAs on Sunday wearing a curve-hugging, snakeskin-patterned minidress. (Perhaps the "Anaconda" singer felt the need to make up for the boa constrictor getting axed from her performance after biting a backup singer in rehearsal.) And she wasn’t the only one looking to creatures of the wild for outfit inspiration.

Charli XCX turned heads in a one-shoulder yellow-and-black tiger-print catsuit (not to mention a groovy red lip), and Finding Carter actress Cynthia Watros wore a short, sleeveless dress that featured a zebra-esque pattern in sequins. Meanwhile, Michelle Williams looked ladylike in a black-and-white gown that bore a striking resemblance to a giraffe's coat.

It was kind of refreshing to see jungle prints that weren't strictly leopard, which usually shows up ad nauseum at these types of things. Clearly these women know an animal print never goes out of style.
