VMAs: P!nk to Receive Video Vanguard Award
The singer-songwriter, who last week announced that her new album 'Beautiful Trauma' will be out Oct. 13, will also perform during the awards ceremony.
P!nk will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, it was announced today (Aug. 15).
The singer-songwriter will also perform live during the awards ceremony.
P!nk last week released her new single, "What About Us," off her forthcoming album, Beautiful Trauma (out Oct. 13). MTV will air the exclusive broadcast premiere of the single at 6 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 16).
In a release announcing that P!nk would be receiving the award, MTV said she was being honored "for her trailblazing impact on music, pop culture, fashion and philanthropy."
"Known for her boundary-breaking and rebellious nature, P!nk’s legacy spawns a 17-year long career as a powerhouse vocalist and performer," the release continued. "The prolific singer/songwriter has created some of the most memorable pop songs and music videos of our time, from 'Don’t Let Me Get Me' and 'Try' to 'F**kin’ Perfect' and 'Trouble.' Past Video Vanguard recipients include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Kanye West and Rihanna.
The 2017 VMAs, hosted by Katy Perry, will air live on MTV from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Kendrick Lamar leads this year's nominations with eight nods, while Perry and The Weeknd are tied in second place with five nods each.
