VOD makes big gains in France

More than 6 mil downloads since first of the year

PARIS -- Video downloads are increasingly in demand in Gaul, with more than 6 million downloads recorded in the territory since the start of the year, nearly double 2007's results, according to a study conducted by GfK and NAP Conseil.

An average of 25,000 paid VOD subscriptions were sold per month, and the number of U.S. titles downloaded jumped 93%, compared with a 20% increase for French films. The average video rental price rose to 3.80 euros ($5.60) from 3.30 euros ($4.86) in 2007.
