'Walking Dead' Producers Ink Pod Deal With Insurrection Media

Skybound Entertainment is teaming with Kiliaen Van Rensselaer's company for TV, digital and video game fare.

The Walking Dead producers Skybound Entertainment is expanding its footprint.

Robert Kirkman and David Alpert's company has signed a pod deal with Insurrection Media to identify, develop and produce genre series to be distributed by Insurrection in the U.S. and overseas on a variety of over-the-top and linear video platforms.

Under the deal, Skybound (Kirkman's Image Comics-based imprint and AMC-based TV production company) will set up and oversee production services for Insurrection and collaborate on the expansion of the intellectual property from the original series in the context of licensing and merchandise with an emphasis on video games.

Insurrection is an independent talent-friendly digital TV studio that develops and produces scripted shows for over-the-top video platforms as well as broadcast and cable networks internationally. 

Founded in 2010, Skybound is a multiplatform entertainment company that specializes in television, film, digital content, interactive, gaming and merchandise. The company is led by The Walking Dead creator Kirkman and his longtime producing and business partner Alpert.
