'Waltz With Bashir' leads sales frenzy

Match Factory and others in flurry of deals

CANNES -- Buzz Competition title "Waltz With Bashir" has racked up several major territory sales, with the Match Factory selling Ari Folman's animated documentary to Lucky Red for Italy, Golem for Spain, Cineart in Benelux, Canada's Seville Pictures and Seven One in Greece.

The film, which traces the director's recovered memory of atrocities during the 1982 Lebanon war, closed deals for France (Le Pacte), Germany (Pandora) and the U.K. (Artificial Eye) just before Cannes.

Artificial Eye also snatched "O Horten" by Norwegian Oscar-nominee Bent Hamer ("Kitchen Stories") from Match Factory; Un Certain Regard title premieres here Wednesday.

Match Factory's other Un Certain Regard title, Andreas Dresen's "Cloud 9" sold to CNC in Benelux, Filmcoopi in Switzerland, Seven One in Greece and Mongrel Media in Canada.

Match Factory also booked multiple deals for Soren Kragh-Jacobsen's "What No One Knows," which went several territories including Germany (Pandora) and Australia (Aztek International) and Gotz Spielmann's "Revanche" which sold to MK2 in France and Movienet Film in Germany among others.
