'Waltz With Bashir' sells to three countries

Cannes Competition title to premiere May 15

BERLIN -- Ari Folman's hotly anticipated animated documentary "Waltz With Bashir" has sold to three top European territories ahead of its debut next week In Competition at the Festival de Cannes.

The film, which reconstructs the director's own experiences during the Lebanon War in the 1980s, sold to Le Pacte in France, Artificial Eye in the U.K. and Pandora in Germany.

"We are very excited about the fact that this unique animated documentary has already found strong partners in Europe," said Michael Weber of sales group The Match Factory, which is handling worldwide rights on the title.

"Waltz With Bashir," an Israeli-French-German co-production premieres in Cannes on May 15.
