Drew Crevello, a senior vp of production at Warner Bros., is exiting his post and signing an overall writing and producing deal with the studio.
Crevello has had ambitions to be a writer for a number of years. After spending a decade working in development, he left his post as a production vp at Fox — where he worked on X-Men: First Class and other big studio fare — to pursue his writing career. Then, in 2014, Crevello joined Warner Bros., where he worked on some of the studio's biggest films, including the upcoming Kong: Skull Island with Legendary, Ben Affleck's Live by Night and the Dungeons and Dragons film.
The studio is carving out a unique deal for Crevello that would allow him to write and produce projects. He has a history with bigger fan-boy, genre projects and will likely continue to work in that space.
Warner Bros. is heading into a big weekend at the box office as Batman v .Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, opens Friday.
