Warner Japan's Remake of 'Unforgiven'

Kazuya Hamana, head of Tokyo Broadcasting System's movie division, has been appointed as head of local film production.

Veteran Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) producer Kazuya Hamana has become head of local film production at Warner Entertainment Japan.

Hamana, who has been producing films at TBS since the late 1990s and was most recently head of its pictures division, was appointed head of local content production this month, according to a Warner spokesperson.

The appointment will be a boost for Warners as Hamana's productions helped make TBS a major player in films with big-screen adaptations of dramas, including Boys Over Flowers and Rookies, as well as more recent original titles such as The Floating Castle.

Warner Japan itself has had success with remakes of such films as Unforgiven.
