Newcomer Isabelle Fuhrman will play the daughter of Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga's characters in the horror film "Orphan."

Jaume Collet-Serra is directing for Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment. Warner Bros. is distributing the film.

David Johnson penned the screenplay, based on a story by Alex Mace. Appian Way also is producing.

The story revolves around a husband and wife (Sarsgaard, Farmiga) who lose a baby and then adopt the eccentric Esther (Fuhrman.) The 9-year-old appears innocent at first but turns out to have a dark side.

Silver, Susan Downey, Erik Olsen and Jennifer Davisson are executive producing. Shooting began last week in Toronto.

Fuhrman is repped by Trilogy Talent and the Osbrink Agency.
