Warners U.K., AAM ink digital download deal

LONDON -- Warner Bros. Entertainment U.K. said Wednesday it has sealed a deal with digital film distribution company Arts Alliance Media to make Warner Bros. films and TV shows available for download-to-own to U.K. consumers.

The service debuts Thursday, with "Superman Returns" heralding the launch. Other current and archive Warners titles on tap include "Batman Begins" and "The Shining."

The content will initially be made available on www.lovefilm.com and www.aol.co.uk.

"This deal is completely consistent with Warner Bros.' strategy of responding to the clear demand of our customers to offer them the widest choice possible in both the movies we offer and the manner in which customers choose to get them," said Josh Berger, managing director of Warner Bros. Entertainment U.K.

Arts Alliance Media already provides U.K. download-to-own services for Universal and Sony.
