Warners, Vue tops at RAAM nods

LONDON -- The fourth annual RAAM Award winners in the U.K. and Irish film distribution and cinema exhibition categories were announced in London on Wednesday night.

During a gala ceremony at London's Millennium Mayfair Hotel, which raised funds for the Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund, the first RAAM lifetime achievement award was presented to Richard Attenborough in recognition of his services to the film industry.

Warner Bros. picked up two awards -- best movie for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and the nod for top distributor in the U.K. and Ireland in 2007.

In the awards for top performance in exhibition, Vue repeated its success of last year, again winning the award for best circuit in the U.K. and Ireland.

Entertainment ruled the independent distributor category with the top boxoffice for three of its films, winning with "The Golden Compass." Icon won the best foreign-language category with "Apocalypto."
