Jameis Winston was suspended one game for his vulgar outburst

ESPN analyst Samantha Ponder is joining the many critics of college football star Jameis Winston's behavior.

On Saturday's College GameDay, Ponder offered a strong rebuke of the Florida State quarterback's recent actions and said that Winston should know that what he did was wrong.

"I'm not buying that the expectations are too high," Ponder said. "Here's what we're asking from him: We're asking that you don't lie, you don't cheat, you don't steal and you don't disrespect women."

Ponder isn't willing to blame Winston's mistakes on "immaturity," adding: "He understands that the things he's done are wrong, but he continues to make those same mistakes."

Winston was suspended from the team for Saturday's game following reports that he stood on a table in a student union Tuesday and shouted a vulgar phrase. His obscenity mimics a current Internet meme. He was initially suspended for only half a game until the school upped the penalty due to a public uproar.

The incident comes as the NFL is dealing with an image crisis over its players' abuse scandals.

Winston, who was the subject of a sexual assault investigation stemming from a 2012 incident, won the 2013 Heisman trophy, becoming the youngest player ever to do so.
