Watch the First Trailer for 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip'

The fourth movie in the franchise hits theaters Dec. 23.

Alvin and the Chipmunks are back and taking their antics on the road in the upcoming sequel Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.

The trailer sees Alvin and company traveling to places like New Orleans and Miami while, as in previous installments, the anthropomorphic chipmunks sing and dance their way through their adventure this time to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.”

Randi Mayem Singer’s screenplay finds Alvin, Simon and Theodore going through a series of misunderstandings, believing that Dave (Jason Lee) is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City … and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother.

This is the fourth outing for the chipmunks, with Justin Long, Jesse McCartney and Matthew Gray Gubler all reprising their respective roles as Alvin, Theodore and Simon. Bella Thorne joins the franchise as Ashley, Dave's girlfriend.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip was directed by Walt Becker and hits theaters Dec. 23.
