WBITD inks VOD deal in Germany

Films, TV series will be available on demand

COLOGNE, Germany -- Warner Bros. International Television Distribution has signed a multiyear licensing deal to launch German-language VOD service Warner TV in partnership with On Demand Deutschland, the VOD joint venture of Herbert Kloiber's Tele Munchen Group and On Demand Group.

Warner TV will offer on-demand films and TV series on a subscription basis to viewers in German-speaking Europe. The deal includes such Warner Bros. titles as "Batman" and "Ocean's Eleven" as well as Warner TV series including "Friends," "ER" and "Babylon 5."

WBITD has signed similar branded VOD deals with Top Up TV, Tiscali, Virgin Media and BT in the U.K., Pro7 in Germany, FASTWEB in Italy, Free in France and GyaO in Japan.

An Indian service is set to launch this year.
