Weeks After Arrest for Drug Possession, Sky Ferreira Cancels Remaining Tour Dates
The singer, who is currently opening for Vampire Weekend in the U.S., cites a vocal injury.
Just weeks after being arrested for drug possession in New York on Sept. 14, Sky Ferreira has canceled her remaining U.S. tour dates with Vampire Weekend due to a "vocal injury."
Ferreira posted the news on her Twitter yesterday evening (Oct. 4), linking to a press release. "I'm so sorry," she tweeted, later admitting that she'll "be a monk by the time this is over."
The injury was originally only supposed to affect concerts held this week, though the injury was inflamed after performing at an Oct. 1 show in San Diego, during which Ferreira contracted a hemorrhage of her vocal cords.
The singer hopes to return to live performances later this month at her album release show Oct. 27 in Los Angeles. The show is scheduled to celebrate the release of Night Time, My Time, the California singer's debut album, which drops two days later on Oct. 29.
Last month, Ferreira was arrested with boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith of indie rock act DIIV in New York. After being pulled over for multiple driving infractions, Smith was found in possession of heroin and a stolen license plate, while Ferreira had Ecstasy on her person.
In a recent issue of Billboard, Ferreira combated opinions that she's a drug addict. "...it's annoying because I wasn't charged with his heroin," she said. "It says it. The public records are out there. I wasn't charged with it. Trust me, if I was even anywhere near that, they would've charged me because they had no problem charging me with other shit. They were out to kind of like fuck with us."
