Weinstein Co. hires David C. Glasser

Exec named president of international distribution

NEW YORK -- The Weinstein Co. has brought Yari Film Group CCO David C. Glasser aboard as its new president of international distribution.

Glasser will replace Glen Basner, who built the division into one of the company's few consistently profitable arms when it was founded in 2005.

Glasser will be based in Los Angeles, reporting directly to Bob and Harvey Weinstein and COO Lee Solomon. He will oversee all international sales, marketing and distribution activities for Weinstein Co. and its Dimension Films genre arm, including the expansion of its home video and television arms.

According to a company source familiar with the deal, plans were in place for a new international head before Basner left at the end of July, and Glasser said his first conversations with Weinstein Co. execs were in mid-July.

Glasser, whos said "Bob (Yari) fully supported the decision when he heard about it," may bring some YFG films aboard his upcoming sales slate. The exec says he plans to focus on bigger, upcoming Weinstein Co. projects like the Broadway musical adaptation "Nine."
