Lenny Abrahamson is directing the adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s novel

William H. Macy, Joan Allen and Jacob Tremblay are joining Brie Larson in Room, the adaptation of Emma Donoghue's popular novel.

Frank's Lenny Abrahamson is directing the film based on a screenplay written by Donoghue.

The book, published in 2010, is told from five-year-old Jack's (Tremblay) perspective. He describes the small "Room" he lives in with his Ma (Larson). He considers it home, but to Ma, it's a prison. She has managed to create a childhood for her son in their 10-by-10-foot space, but as Jack’s curiosity is building alongside Ma’s own desperation — she knows that Room cannot contain either indefinitely.

Sean Bridgers (Rectify), Tom McCamus (The Samaritan) and Megan Park (What If) are also joining the cast as the film begins production at Pinewood Studios and on location in Toronto.

Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney is producing Room with David Gross while executive producers are Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures and Jeff Arkuss and Jesse Shapira for No Trace Camping. Donoghue, Rose Garnett and Tessa Ross also serve as executive producers.

A24 picked up U.S. distribution rights for Room in May.

Macy most recently directed Rudderless, and his upcoming acting projects include Cake and Dial a Prayer.  He's repped by WME.

Allen's recent films include The Bourne Legacy and her TV credits include The Killing and Luck. She's repped by ICM Partners and attorney Frank Stewart.

Tremblay, who will play the role of the young boy, appeared in The Smurfs 2. He’s repped by UTA, Play Management and Jackoway Tyerman.
