Williams, Gilmore lead 'Dad' faculty

Alexie Gilmore is set to teach Robin Williams a lesson. The two have signed to star in the indie feature "World's Greatest Dad."

Williams plays Lance, a high school poetry teacher who copes with his son's death from a freak masturbation accident by faking a suicide note to spare the family shame. The note, published without his permission, ends up becoming a sensation, and Lance reignites his writing career by penning a personal journal he claims was written by his son (Daryl Sabara).

Gilmore plays Claire, a teacher who has an affair with Lance.

Bob Goldthwait penned the script and is directing the project, which began filming Tuesday in Seattle.

Howard Gertler and Sean McKittrick are producing. CAA and Cinetic Media are handling the North American rights to the film.

Williams' upcoming projects include the indie comedy "Shrink" and Disney's "Old Dogs." He is repped by CAA and Morra Brezner Steinberg & Tenenbaum Entertainment.

Gilmore next stars opposite Matthew McConaughey in "Surfer Dude." She is repped by Paradigm and the Group Entertainment. (partialdiff)
