Wiseman ready to play 'Shell Game'

Len Wiseman has signed on to helm the futuristic detective thriller "Shell Game" for Lakeshore Entertainment and Sony's Columbia Pictures.

Wiseman is producing with Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Skip Williamson. Chris Bender and JC Spink of Benderspink are executive producing.

Set in the future, "Shell" is about a detective who is faced with a moral dilemma while investigating the dangerous black-market business of immortality.

Wiseman and Chris Morgan ("The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift") are rewriting the original screenplay by Justin Biondi and Andrew Ludington.

"It's a passion project of mine that I've wanted to make for over five years and is a very ambitious feature both creatively and logistically," Wiseman said.

This is the latest collaboration between Wiseman and Lakeshore and Sony. Under Sony's Screen Gems label, he directed and produced "Underworld" and "Underworld: Evolution" and is producing "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," which is filming in New Zealand.

"From our first meeting with Len on 'Underworld,' it was obvious that he had great talent and a unique artistic vision," Rosenberg said. "We are very excited about collaborating with him again and bringing more of his extraordinary and original work to audiences worldwide."

Wiseman, who is repped by ICM, got his start in the art department working on "Men in Black" and "Independence Day.
