'Witch' conjures up sales for Telepool

German sales group Telepool has 'best Cannes'

CANNES -- German sales group Telepool has had its "best Cannes Market in a long, long time," sales exec Irina Ignatiew told THR, with Stefan Ruzowitzky's family fantasy film "Lilly the Witch" generating the most interest from international buyers.

The adaptation of the best-selling children's book is close to closing in several big European territories and is generating strong interest in the U.S. and U.K. as well.

"Lilly the Witch" will be Ruzowitzky's follow-up to the Oscar-winning "Counterfeiters" and be released by Walt Disney in German-speaking Europe, Italy and Spain.

Telepool also lined up multiple territory deals on family-friendly titles "Red Zora," which went to Swift in France and Sinetel in Turkey, and teen romance "Summer," which went to SPI for Central Eastern Europe and Horizon for Turkey.
