Over more than three decades in finance, Liddell's previous operations roles included vice chairman and CFO of GM and senior vice president and CFO of Microsoft. He was also a director at IMG as well as CFO of International Paper and CEO of Carter Holt Harvey. Liddell has served on the SEC's Advisory Committee on Improvements to Financial Reporting, and his experience in sports (one of the newly acquired IMG's specialties) includes directing the New Zealand Rugby Union and governing the New Zealand Sports Foundation.

"Chris is a seasoned professional with a great track record, and we're excited to welcome him to the team," WME / IMG co-CEOs Patrick Whitesell and Ari Emanuel said in a statement.

Liddell graduated from the University of Auckland in New Zealand with a bachelor's degree in engineering and from Oxford University with a master's in philosophy.

"Joining Patrick, Ari and the WME / IMG team is a unique opportunity," Liddell said in a statement. "The newly combined company occupies an outstanding position in the global sports and entertainment industries, and I'm looking forward to helping build and grow the business."

WME completed its acquisition of sports and fashion powerhouse IMG in May. IMG also recently signed French men's tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, currently ranked No. 15 in the world, and No. 10-ranked women's golfer Cristie Kerr, and closed a five-year multimedia rights deal with Eastern Michigan University, a Division I FBS program.
