Wolfe Releasing Picks Up 'Suicide Room' for U.S.
Jan Komasa's directorial debut has been a box office hit in Poland.
COLOGNE, Germany - Wolfe Releasing has acquired Jan Komasa's directorial debut Suicide Room for U.S. release from sales group LevelK. The drama, which premiered in Berlin's Panorama sidebar in February, has been a box office hit in Komasa's native Poland, selling close to 800,000 tickets.
Suicide Room follows Dominik, the son of a power couple, part of Poland's growing upper middle class. Online bullying at his elite school leads Dominik to withdrawl into a virtual world, eventually landing in an Internet forum for would-be suicides. The film won the Polish critics' Fipresci award. Jerzy Kapuscinski and Wojciech Kabarowski produced Suicide Room for Poland's Film Studio KADR.
