Wolfson signs year as Rotterdam director

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands -- The International Film Festival Rotterdam has appointed Rutger Wolfson as its temporary director.

Wolfson, tasked with organizing the 2008 edition, succeeds Sandra den Hamer, who left the festival this year to become director of the Amsterdam Film Museum.

Wolfson said in an interview that he wants to emphasize the relationship between film and the local Dutch museums, and plans to combine his new post with his present function as director of De Vleeshal, a center for contemporary art in the Dutch town of Middelburg.

He confirmed that he is taking the job for only one year. The festival board also has appointed Stef Fleischeuer to a one-year term as interim business director.
