Woman Gets Probation for Stealing $234K From Ex-'SNL' Actor Joe Piscopo
The woman who helped her bookkeeper husband steal from Piscopo has been spared a prison term.
MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — A woman who helped her bookkeeper husband steal $234,500 from former Saturday Night Live castmember Joe Piscopo has been spared a prison term.
Jennifer Larocca instead was sentenced Friday to three years' probation. That came one week after her husband received a three-year state prison term.
The New Jersey woman had pleaded guilty in February to theft.
Prosecutors say Piscopo hired Frank Larocca to pay the comedian's bills and manage his bank account. The thefts occurred between February 2010 and March 2014.
Authorities say the husband and wife were dealing with serious financial problems and used the money for personal expenses. They say the couple has agreed to make full restitution and have already paid back nearly $64,000.
Piscopo's run on SNL lasted from 1980-1984.
