Oren Moverman's drama is up for two Oscars

LONDON -- Sales company the Works U.K. Distribution said Thursday that it has acquired U.K. distribution rights to Oren Moverman's double Oscar-nominated drama "The Messenger," starring Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster and Samantha Morton, from international sales agent ContentFilm International.

Nominated for best screenplay by Alessandro Camon and Oren Moverman and best supporting actor for Harrelson, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe, "The Messenger" recently won the Berlin Silver Bear for best screenplay and the Berlin Peace Award, as well as the best film and Critics Awards at the Deauville Film Festival.

The deal was sealed by the Works U.K. Distribution's director of marketing Laurence Gornall, and president of ContentFilm International Jamie Carmichael.

"Woody Harrelson gives a stunning performance in "The Messenger" and we are delighted to be working with ContentFilm on this deeply moving, powerful, award-winning film," said the Works' marketing director Laurence Gornall.
