SINGAPORE — Government media agencies from South Korea and Singapore signed a co-production agreement Thursday at a ceremony in Singapore. Television content created under the agreement between the Korean Broadcasting Commission and the Media Development Authority of Singapore will be considered local in both territories, which have local programming quotas on broadcast networks. KBC chairman Cho Chang Hyun said the commission had received official clearance to allocate funds for Korean co-productions, though details remain confidential. MDA chairman Tan Chin Nam said he expects to sign further memoranda of understanding with Korean agencies, including the Korean Culture and Content Agency.

Oz's 'Top Model'

SYDNEY — "America's Next Top Model" will get a free-to-air network outlet in Australia as Network Ten has acquired broadcast rights for the series from CBS International. The sixth season of the reality show, created and hosted by model Tyra Banks, will make its Ten debut July 6 at 9:30 p.m. Pay network Foxtel holds and retains first-run rights and local format rights to the program.

Barham upped

LONDON — Virgin Media Television has appointed Amy Barham head of acquisitions for its new entertainment channel, Virgin 1, the company said Thursday. Barham will add responsibility for Virgin 1 acquisitions to an existing portfolio that includes buying for Living and Living2. Barham secured "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for Virgin 1 at this year's Los Angeles screenings. Prior to joining VMTV in 2003, Amy was a development executive at Carlton Television format arm Action Time.
