HONG KONG — Nike's "Jump" campaign for mainland Chinese TV, designed by Wieden and Kennedy Shanghai, took three awards at Thursday's Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia TV advertising awards, including best TVC (television commercial) Greater China, best TVC youth and best TVC sports and leisure. Malaysia-based Astro TV's Astro-on-demand ad campaign took the John Doherty trophy for campaign of the year, while National Geographic Channel's "Redefining the Beauty of the World" campaign won for integrated campaign by a pay TV channel.
Here comes 'The Sun'
HONG KONG — French rights to Jiang Wen's "The Sun Also Rises" have been acquired by Pretty Pictures from Hong Kong's Emperor Motion Pictures. The deal was brokered between Alan Ng of Emperor Motion Pictures and James Velaise of Pretty Pictures. The film is set for release in France in April with 50 prints. "Sun," which stars Joan Chen and Anthony Wong, screened at this year's Venice, Toronto and Pusan film festivals.
TORONTO — Canadian broadcaster CTV and cable giant Rogers Communications have hired veteran live-event producer Rick Chisholm to bolster their multiplatform coverage of the 2010 and 2012 Olympic Games. The CTV/Rogers consortium named Chisholm, most recently vp programming and production at the Sports Network, as exec vp broadcasting for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver/Whistler and 2012 Summer Games in London. The company also named former NBC Olympics producer Alon Marcovici to spearhead its digital programming.
