World Film Festival gets 'Mundane' opening

"Rocksteady" reggae film will close nine-day event

HONG KONG -- Local film "Mundane History" directed by May Anocha Suwichakornpong will open the 7th World Film Festival of Bangkok (Nov 6-15). It was announced Wednesday that the closing will be a free public screening of "Rocksteady: The Roots of Reggae."

The festival will include some 100 feature films and shorts that will unspool at the glitzy Paragon Siam complex. The line-up also features a hastily put together tribute to prolific Thai director Bhandit Rittakol, who died last week.

International guests will include Taiwan's Tsai Ming-liang, who will present his recent "Face."
